They loved each other. That was all that mattered. Obi-Wan loved Padmé, and except for one night, he had only been able to watch her from afar.
Well she was precious like a flower
She grew wild, wild but innocent
A perfect prayer in a desperate hour
She was everything beautiful and different
Obi-Wan was tired of cleaning up Anakin’s messes. Padmé had told him she loved him and Obi-Wan had thought it was just because she was having problems with Anakin.
Stupid boy, you can’t fence that in
Stupid boy, it’s like holding back the wind
She let her heart and soul right in your hands
She had once loved Anakin, but she knew that wasn’t the case anymore. The more time she had spent with Obi-Wan, she realized that she was just in love with the thought of being in love with Anakin and had rushed things.
And you stole her every dream and you crushed her plans
She never knew she had a choice and that’s what happens
When the only voice she hears is telling her she can’t
Stupid boy, stupid boy
Oh
Padmé felt confused, she was pregnant. Obi-Wan knew it, but mentioned nothing of it. It only reminded him of the way Anakin had treated her. And why that one night Padmé needed him.
So what made you think you could take a life
And just push it, push it around
I guess you build yourself up so high
You had to take her and break her down
No, Padmé and Anakin weren’t married, but it had still enraged Anakin to every degree. The thought that Padmé was pregnant with his best friend’s child. Even more so, knowing that he was the one that had pushed her closer and closer to Obi-Wan.
She let her heart and soul right in your hands
And you stole her every dream and you crushed her plans
She never knew she had a choice and that’s what happens
When the only voice she hears is telling her she can’t
You stupid boy
Obi-Wan hadn’t known that Padmé had been in a relationship with Anakin until the next day. Anakin had always talked about Padmé like she was his world. But soon that kind of talk stopped.
Oh, you always had to be right but now you’ve lost
The only thing that ever made you feel alive
The yelling and abusive words had become too much the night she found out she was pregnant. And she left.
Well, she let her heart and soul right in your hands
And you stole her every dream and you crushed her plans
Yes, ya did
She never even knew she had a choice and that’s what happens
When the only voice she hears is telling her she can’t
You stupid boy, oh, I’m the same old
Same old stupid boy
Anakin had watched her as she left. She had told him she was pregnant and that it wasn’t his. He had yelled things he didn’t really mean, like he always did.
It took a while for her to figure out she could run
But when she did, she was long gone
Long gone, long gone
Ah, she’s gone
Anakin had watched her head to Obi-Wan and right into his arms and hours later as they both carried bags and climbed aboard a ship to leave. Anakin had yelled out he was sorry to her. She had stopped at the loading platform and looked out toward him…
Nobody’s ever gonna love me like she loved me
And she loved me, she loved me
God, please, just let her know
I’m sorry, I’m sorry
I’m sorry, I’m sorry
Baby, yeah, I’m down on my knees
She’s never coming back to me
But she was tired of apologies and had found someone that loved her the way she deserved it.
