She approached the door slowly. "What am I doing here?" She thought to herself.
She closed her eyes and sighed, she knew exactly what she was doing, and why she was doing it.
She needed this, she didn't know why. She just knew it was something she had to do. If she didn't knock on that door, she would spend the rest of her life wondering what if.
Taking a deep breath, she quietly knocked, holding her breath while she waited.
One knock that would change everything.
"Padmé?" He said, quite surprised to see her.
"Master Windu said you were here. Can I come in?"
"Yes, please come in." He said, opening the door further for her.
She took another deep breath. Now or never she thought to herself. She was about to betray her husband. There was no going back.
One knock, one visit that would change everything.
Once the door was closed she dove into his arms, holding onto him tightly, never wanting to let go. He was startled at first, but then his arms wrapped tightly around her stroking her back gently. She pulled back and looked up into his eyes, tears running down her face, smearing her makeup.
He questioned her with her eyes and she nodded, giving him reassurance it was what she wanted as well. He knew she had struggled just as much as he, with the feelings they could no longer deny. He wanted her, she wanted him to. He leaned down and kissed her softly and she melted into the kiss.
"How could something so wrong feel so right?" She thought.
She woke hours later, his body spooned against hers, his arm around her waist. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. She looked down at him sleeping peacefully, kissed his cheek and got up out of the bed. She walked over to the table and pulled out a comlink.
"Threepio." She said quietly so she wouldn't wake him.
"Yes, Miss Padmé?" the droids voiced echoed back.
"When Anakin arrives, tell him I have an important meeting with the senate and I won't be returning until late tonight."
"Yes of course, Miss Padmé, do you need anything else?"
"No, Threepio. Thank you."
She turned and walked back to the bed and looked down at Obi-Wan, wondering what he was dreaming about.
She climbed back into the bed, taking his hand. She knew she had just started something that will spiral out of control. She wouldn't worry about it now, she would deal with it when the time came. For now she just wanted peace. She intertwined her fingers with his and closed her eyes, drifting into sleep in the arms of the older Jedi.
