Title: Never Really Alone (Songfic)
Author: Monica aka Addicted2StarWars
Rating: G
Obi-Wan sat and watched from afar as Beru Lars walked around the outset of her homestead with a little bundle in her arms. Obi-Wan knew that it was best that he wasn’t seen and began walking back to his new home.
It’s a long trip alone, over sand and stone
That lie along the road that we all must travel down
They had faked Padmé’s death but had taken her children away from her. Obi-Wan loved Padmé and knew how much it hurt her. Obi-Wan had suggested her move to Tatooine with him. That way they could watch over her son together. She refused, saying it would be too hard. She wanted to stay with Obi-Wan but found it too hard knowing that her son would be so close but always so far away.
Obi-Wan let his thoughts dwell on Padmé as he walked to his hut alone.
So maybe you could walk with me a while
And maybe I could rest beneath your smile
Everyone stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold
‘Cause it’s a long trip alone
Obi-Wan could have sworn the heat of the suns was toying with him as he arrived to his destination. He saw the very object of his affection and current thoughts standing in the entranceway.
It’s a short piece of time but just enough to find
A little piece of mind under the sun somewhere
Padmé broke into a run across the sand and leapt into Obi-Wan’s arms. She had missed him too much. She wasn’t sure what she was doing here. All she knew was that she had thought about him ever since they parted.
So maybe you could walk with me a while
And maybe I could rest beneath your smile
You know we can’t afford to let one moment pass us by
‘Cause it’s a short piece of time
“Are you alright?” He asked as he noticed the tears on her face.
“I’ve felt so lost with out you.” She said just before she kissed him.
And I don’t know where I’d be without you here
‘Cause I’m not really me without you there
He kissed her back allowing all his love and concern to flow toward her. Padmé felt horrible for leaving him, for refusing a chance to be near their son.
So maybe you could walk with me a while
Maybe I could rest beneath your smile
Everybody stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold
That night they lay in bed together, not knowing how long they can stay this way. They know the danger that is there if they are discovered by the Emperor’s new henchman. But Obi-Wan didn’t care; he wants her with him, where he would know how safe she was.
“Stay home with me?” Padmé’ s head lay on his chest and all she could do was nod.
So maybe you could walk with me a while
Maybe I could rest beneath your smile
Maybe I could feel right beside you ‘til I’m home
‘Cause it’s a long trip alone
