Here is flgirl4/Kristine's fic for the convention. Title: higher than soul can hope or mind can hide Author: Kristine Disclaimer: I do not own nor am affiliated with Star Wars, Disney, or LucasFilms. Author’s Note: I am submitting this early, and perhaps a bit underprepared for my standards, so it can be shared in the OVOC. As a newcomer to Obidala (and Star Wars in general), I felt the need to contribute a little kindling so that coming late doesn’t mean missing all the fun. Forgive me if my timeline is off; most of my knowledge of the prequel films is from fanfic and thus can be shaky. Can be read as a one-shot, though I am planning on making this a multichapter fic. Summary: In the aftermath of the Naboo Crisis, a seed of friendship is born. daniellasbureau.co.uk/StarWars/OVOC/2013/Higher.htmlPlease post feedback for this fic by replying to this thread.

Wow. Deep breath... Wow. I love every line of this fic. The characters are caught so beautifully, Anakin's petulant outburst is a brilliant insight to what I imagine was the foundation of his relationship with Obi-Wan. I wish he could have seen Obi-Wan's grief, but he would have probably interpreted it in a different way.
Padme so beautifully gracious and comforting to Obi-Wan, her touching vow of friendship. And Obi-Wan his shoulders carrying a heavy burden of grief and the task before him. Their moment in the gardens together is exquisite.
So inspiring, thank you for sharing this with us.

I really don't know what you're worried about in the author's note: this fic is absolutely PERFECT. Your writing is truly excellent, I loved your choice of words. And you captured the relationships between the characters so well! Everything fit together in an amazing way. I really had a blast reading this. Your story felt somewhat mysterious and otherworldly to me, and it definitely had a profound impact on me. I'd love to read more if you decide to continue writing.

A really strong and stunning piece. Beautifully melodic. Your characterizations feel very much in-keeping with our heroes. And I like how you're slow-playing the relationship. Clearly there's something there between them, that connects them, but they're both still figuring it out. I don't know what you were so worried about in your AN! This is great work! And a perfect addition to this year's convention. Thank you for submitting!

Welcome, welcome! It's a marvelous start - and the characters well IC; Padme's forthrightness and Obi-Wan's laying on the blame on himself *sigh* what can we do with him?? Happy writing!

I've got to agree with everyone else. I cannot figure out why in the world you were concerned. This is an absolutely exquisite story. I don't even know what my emotions are doing right now. It was all so beautiful and so heartbreaking. Thank you for giving us all such a wonderful story to read.

Thank you all so much for such lovely feedback!!! You all are so exceptionally supportive and your feedback is so well-thought out. As my first dip in this fandom, I feel truly blessed to have found people who seek to inspire, rather than the simple, "post more." It's also helping me as a reformed lurker (... on other fandoms, to be clear)! I really was nervous about posting since, like I said, I haven't ever watched any of the prequel movies in entirety. (and may or may not have seen the OT only once at about age 10). Thank God for all the fabulous Obidala authors out there that were able to convey the characters well enough that I could somewhat adapt them. And my author's note, I really wasn't fishing guys, I swear!! I am a bit anal retentive; just rereading it now I find about four things I would change immediately. True story: I have about 8 or 9 full or partial chapters. This was my seventh completion. Thus, I'm all out of order and things are flowing rather sporatically. The rest of it I have read through quite a few times to be sure it's flowing correctly. I haven't read through this one enough, and there's the disconnect. It works well enough for me, though, no worries. It will definitely be a slow build, to the relationship and the story. However, I have my direction and, thanks to all of you, some more inspiration. I am still in awe of your feedback, guys. Seriously. I cannot thank you enough. I don't write for feedback, but it sure makes things easier, doesn't it? ;D

I am still SHOCKED to hear that you've never seen the PT all the way through. As an Obidala fan, you might not want to as it doesn't really end in our favor! Lol. But it really is incredible that you could write something so moving and emotional about these characters -- that feels so right -- despite that fact. You really should be proud. I know we all are of you, for sure. *hugs* I didn't think you were fishing in your author's note. Context is important and that's what you were trying to give us. I think everyone just wanted to make sure that, at least from our side of things, you really had nothing to worry about. Feedback certainly does provide encouragement, that's for sure. And I'm glad we were able to do that for you this weekend. The story, really and truly, was wonderful. I'm very excited to see more!

Yes, I think I will actually avoid watching the whole thing due to my attachment to this particular pairing, lol! I've been trying to find scenes via youtube for what I really need for the fic, and the rest I find on scripts. Wookiepedia has also been bookmarked. ;D
Thank you all again!

I kid about not watching the movies. I think they're definitely worth a watch. Even AotC (which is *the* Anakin/Padme love story movie) has an amazingly intense and action-packed ending. I said even when the film was in theatres that that last 30 minutes was worth the price of admission. Besides, nothing trumps head-canon. And if Obidala is your pairing of choice then there are all kinds of scenarios to be imagined from watching them. Not to mention, even though you have to sit through hours of A/P to get through the PT, seeing how gloriously that pairing *doesn't* work at times, still makes you feel quite validated about your ship. Or maybe that's just me. Lol. No disrespect intended to any of our mulit-shippers.

it's a very moving story, i love it. i think it could be an amazing multichapter fic if you eventually will decide to continue it. it has great potential and it's great how you show subtle hints of potential conflicts caused by clash of personalities between Obi Wan and Anakin. if you decide to make it into a multichapter fic, i would totally read it
