"Thank you Obi-Wan for your faithful friendship and love. I will watch over you as you watch over my children. Reach out into the Force and I will be there, along with so many others, to help you."That's where I lost it. The text on the screen blurred with my unshed tears and I had to let them fall to continue reading . . . kinda dramatic but completely true. {ME} I absolutely LOVE how you took a moment that stripped Padme of so much of her agency (her death) and you gave it back to her. It wasn't her giving up because her husband betrayed her. It was her FIGHTING to survive long enough to give her children life. And even the moment where she's speaking to Leia! So beautiful. Perfectly explaining why Leia would have memories of Padme that Luke doesn't. Amazing work.

"But this was a battle she was losing. She heard the term "lost the will to live" mentioned by the medical droids and staff yet they were far off the mark. Her life force was being drained. The unexplainable bond, sprung up in the midst of her pregnancy that connected her to her husband was being manipulated by a phantom dark force, determined to syphon off her life for his. It took every fibre of her being to protect her children, making sure they lived when she could not. It was the ultimate self-sacrifice, one a mother would gladly do. She birthed them and that was enough."
*I will not cry, I will not cry.... damnnit *grabs tissues**
This is a completely believeable explanation to cover that "lost the will to live" which I always found annoying and insensible. But this actually makes it work. Wonderful story, beautiful, sweet, poignant, eloquent, perfect accompaniment to the film/book.

Not ready for this i wasn't *cries*
"Padmé’s heart was overflowing with love for these two miracles and she tried not to think about their uncertain future, just focusing on the little time they had together. She didn’t know if they were force sensitive, although being Anakin’s children they probably were. She wondered if they could feel her presence. Luke slept happily on as she told him that she loved him. Leia seemed to respond by wriggling more as she bent down beside her cot.
“Hello my sweet baby,” Padmé said. Leia’s huge brown eyes stared into hers. Sadness overwhelmed Padmé as she realised that she hadn’t had a chance to hold her babies, and that she never will.
“Look after your brother. Be strong and brave. I love you both so much,” she said"
This really pained me because I could just see Padme smiling down at her beautiful twins and never holding them *cries*
*claps* WELL DONE!!!! amazing!!! so proud of this you should be

Oh no, this really made me blink back some tears, even more so than the other one! You have a special talent for tugging on people's heartstrings. In all seriousness, excellent bit of writing. I loved reading this bit of closure to Padmé's death.

I want to nope it out of here so badly. This is just as painful as your other fic! I LOVE how you portrayed her death not as her "giving up", that just did NOT fit with Padmé's character AT ALL, but rather, her lifeforce was being forcibly drained (probably by Palpatine -.-). That makes SO much more sense! And how Leia was able to see her as she spoke to her. That was perfect because as a child, I always wondered how Leia remembered Padmé somewhat and Luke didn't, despite him technically seeing her when Obi showed him to Padmé when he was born, but Leia hadn't gotten that chance. Your version perfectly answered all the questions that GL caused us to raise. And her seeing the REAL Obi-Wan, the side he hides from everyone, all of his emotions on display. This is truly beautiful.

Lovely work, Crystal. The Jedi Quest reference was especially well done and appropriate; I always enjoyed that series of YA books because they had a lot of substance for being YA.
